We will be using MyVolunteerPage by Better Impact to register all volunteers.
Once you select 'Apply Now' you will be directed to the MyVolunteerPage. You will need to create an account and login password that will permit you to proceed in the process.
Once you have created your account, you will have the opportunity to complete the Volunteer Registration Form. We will need your personal contact info, shirt size, whether you are volunteering as a family or group, etc.
When you submit your registration form, you will receive an email to confirm your submission.
You will then need to complete the Online Orientation (approx. 45 mins) and the CRC/VSS (see submission information below).
When these two items are completed, you will be notified by email, at which time you will be invited to log in and request your volunteer jobs. You will also be asked to register for the In-person Training Session.

Goal of Position:
The 2017 Special Olympics Ontario Provincial Summer Games will bring approximately 1800 athletes, coaches and families to the Region of Peel, Ontario. To ensure our games will provide “the best experience ever”, we will be recruiting approximately 600 volunteers to make this happen.
Family Volunteer Program
Special Olympics Ontario is proud to launch the Family Volunteer Program for the 2017 Provincial Summer Games.
- Due to legal liabilities, the minimum age for the family volunteer program will be 10yrs of age as of the start of the games. - Family volunteers aged 10 – 15 years of age will not be required to complete a CRC/VSS - ALL volunteers aged 16 years and over MUST submit a CRC/VSS - Family volunteers aged 10-15 years of age must volunteer side by side with a family member who is 16 years of age or older. - Family Volunteers will be placed in a position that is conducive to young persons. (ie wranglers at Opening Ceremonies). - Family volunteers aged 10-15 years of age will be registered automatically with the parent/guardian.
Volunteer Orientation Session
All volunteers are required to attend one of the three Volunteer Orientation Sessions:

Criminal Records Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening (CRC/VSS)
A CRC / VSS must be completed for all people over the age of 16 who are volunteering for the games. The CRC/VSS is in place to provide screening of individuals who intend on volunteering with the vulnerable sector. A vulnerable person is defined as a person who, because of their age, a disability, or other circumstances, whether temporary or permanent are (a) in a position of dependence on others or (b) are otherwise at a greater risk than the general population of being harmed by a person in a position of authority or trust relative to them.
Obtaining a CRC / VSS is a mandatory step in the volunteer registration process
Already have a CRC / VSS completed?
A CRC/VSS completed after August 1st, 2016 will be accepted.
You must scan a copy of this completed check and send it to: firstname.lastname@example.org You will need to retain your original copy with you as you will need to bring it to the Volunteer Orientation Night.
How to apply for a CRC / VSS
If you are planning on volunteering for the 2017 Special Olympics Ontario Provincial Summer Games, you may attend the next application intake date:
Tuesday March 28th, 2017, Peel Regional Police Headquarters - Records Bureau, 7750 Hurontario Street, Brampton, between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
You must attend in person and bring your completed CRC/VSS form along with two pieces of government issued identification; one which must have a photograph and proof of address. Click here to go Records Check Form and Waiver: https://goo.gl/bfy4s8
Identify yourself as being a volunteer for the 2017 Special Olympics Ontario Provincial Summer Games and sign the consent waiver.
There will be no fee for the Records Check to be processed with the consent waiver. The Records Search will be provided directly to the Volunteer Coordinator. This check is for the sole purpose of the games. You will not receive a copy of your Records Check. You will be notified through Better Impact that your status as Volunteer has been accepted.

What if I reside outside of Brampton or Mississauga?
If you reside outside of Brampton or Mississauga, your options to get a CRC / VSS include,
Go to your local police station to have your CRC / VSS completed - You then must scan a copy of this completed check and send it to: email@example.com
If you reside in Caledon please visit your local OPP detachment.
You will need to keep your original copy with you as you will need to bring it to the Volunteer Orientation Night.
DEADLINE: All CRC / VSS must be received by May 1st, 2017.
What are the next steps?
Upon successful completion of your CRC / VSS, you will be accepted as Volunteer for the 2017 Special Olympics Ontario Provincial Summer Games. You will then be able to schedule your hours for approval. This will be communicated to you by email.
Once you have been accepted you will be able to view position descriptions that match your qualifications and you can request the volunteer positions you are interested in.
